Off-grid integrated household waste management, cooking, WASH and growing system (system)

OBJECTIVES

  • self-powered 'Carbon negative' household waste management system to fight waste and climate change
  • reduce export of household waste to large scale industrial waste management systems (which use inefficient logistics too!)
  • use state of the art solid state, digitally controlled and Artificially Intelligent 'Variable Frequency Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis' (VFMAP) technology (which needs a lot of R&D for feedstock training data for Machine Learning to perfect the 'Feedstock adaptive frequency tuning' with great control software integration)
  • cater to various use cases eg. Earthships, tiny houses, shacks, semi-permanent/permanent camps and more

3 modules

  1. VFMAP
    1. Self powered, after startup from a small biochar-based battery, from syngas->Stirling Engine/TEG->bioelectricity
    2. Could have some power outlets eg.AC, DC, USB (with PD)
  2. Shredder (powered from the VFMAP module)
  3. Predrying (coupled to the VFMAP, using waste process heat)
    1. Food waste
    2. Sewage waste

Feedstocks

  • food waste (predrying module)
  • plastic waste (shredder module)
  • sewage waste (bokashi Biochar toilet->predrying module)
    • This is an interesting waste stream because the biochar in the sewage waste can also enhance the VFMAP energy efficiency as a susceptor (though not essential) for an increased dielectric effect but is probably essential i.e. a susceptor, for basic 'Microwave Assisted Pyrolysis' (MAP)
  • paper and cardboard (shredder module)

What to do with the (bio)char?

  • Plastic char should be OK for the toilets
  • Biochar from food waste, paper and cardboard, should be OK for water filtration but a safer bet is Biochar pellets straight from the TLUDs. Could be added to the toilets too.
  • Biochar from the bokashi toilet (which already has biochar) should be fine for compost->growing systems
